Armen Agop

Armen Agop (born in 1969 in Cairo) is an Egyptian-Armenian sculptor based in Pietrasanta, Italy.〔(Bio, Official site )〕 He uses black granite and basalt in his sculptures as his main mediums of expression.〔(Armen Agop, Art Plural Gallery )〕
==Biography==
By the age of 13 Agop was a student of Simon Shahrigian. He finished the Faculty of the Fine Arts at Helwan University in Cairo. After graduating, he received an assistant researcher scholarship.

His works are represented in the Egyptian Modern Art Museum, Egypt, Villa Empain/Boghossian Foundation in Belgium, Giardino di Piazza Stazione in Barge, Italy, and Coral Springs Museum of Art in Florida, USA.
Agop's work has often been described as “Contrasting Art” where the contemporary and the ancient meet; his artistic presence springs from his cross-cultural philosophy.〔(Armen Agop, Artsy )〕
